Terrapin Talk
September 27, 2022
Happy Terrapin Tuesday!!
Today's RockRoots assembly will be held 9:30 - 10:15am for grades K-2 and 10:30 - 11:15am for grades 3-6. This was booked during the summer before school guidance was issued. Moving forward, we'll likely return to the full grades for assembly programs.
Please extend best wishes to Amelia as she is remaining on maternity leave for the remainder of the school year. Also extend a congrats and welcome to Kelly Tavormina who was a proved last night to remain on for the year.

Band/Chorus:
If you have an AM post for student arrival, take notice of the posted flyers Mrs. Lank shared at the arrival doors as a reminder to let students in from the bus/walker/drop off lane at 7:45 as rehearsal begins promptly at 7:50 - 8:15. Please call to Maggie in the cafeteria after 8:15 if a student needs to get a later breakfast.
Lunch Snacks:
Students are limited to 1 snack item and are not permitted to purchase snacks for other students.
NJDOE Site:
During Opening Inservices I shared how the goal of some of our school based changes are aligned to State expectations to help build understanding of the rationale of the changes/additions and new program implementations. Please check out some the NJDOE links as we all work together to increase our understanding and awareness as well as developing our responsibilities within the school. If you haven't been on the site recently, the Educator site has been updated as well.

Classrooms & Dismissal:
Please have sub plans readily available on your desk areas as per Faculty Handbook p. 27. These plans are to include specifics about your student's schedules (speech, Wilson, ) and arrival/dismissal information. A note in OnCOurse is helpful to Mary and me so we know if we need to print plans, look for plans, or if plans were shared with another teacher to print.
With After Care and After School Clubs starting next week, please reach out to Ellen or myself if you are in need of suggestions/ideas about keeping track of where students are to be for dismissal. Keeping an accurate record and following those dismissal procedures is the teacher's teacher's responsibility regardless of the age/grade of the student.
Once clubs begin and record is received for which students stay for which clubs, students re NOT permitted to "skip" by choice. If they are not attending, a note/PS must be received for the parent/guardian or they still get sent based on what we have on file/record. Please reinforce this with your students.
*Please continue to update your websites*
Faculty Room:
Over the past 2 years there have been several complaints/comments about the crowding in the faculty room. Our staff has grown quite a bit from the 2017-2018 renovations and we may need to update the layout at some point. Thanks to the input of many to take action to adjust some spaces add/remove some items. Please continue to monitor the clutter that accumulates in that room.
Have a great week!
Thanks you for all you do!
Siobhan
