A Message from Principal Blair
JMS was honored to recognize Veterans this year for a special luncheon. We had over 70 guests attend as we recognized those who served and celebrated as a community. Thanks to all who helped make that special event a success!
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, JMS will hold administer the STAAR Interim Assessments to all students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. These assessments will provide teachers will a great deal of data and drive our instruction into the Spring semester. How can you help? Be sure they bring their chromebook and charger both days! Ensure your child gets at least 8 hours of sleep Tuesday and Wednesday night. Send them with a bottled water and a snack. We will be on a modified bell schedule for both days.
Attendance letters were distributed to students in need of make-up hours. The state of Texas requires that students are in attendance at least 90% of the year. You can make-up hours by attending tutorials before and after school along with scheduled Saturday School. The next opportunity will be on Saturday, December 4 from 8:00-12:00. Students will receive 8 hours for this 4-hour session!
Our monthly PTO meeting will be held Wednesday in the JMS library at 5:30 PM. You won't want to miss it!
Join Us for Thanksgiving Lunch on Wednesday! Parents are welcome and invited to join their students for a Thanksgiving Meal. Meals may be purchased online for $6 per plate. Only cash or check will be accepted at the campus (no credit cards).
The menu includes:
Herb roasted sliced turkey
Garlic Mashed potatoes and gravy
Cornbread stuffing
Green beans
Cinnamon pears
Cranberry Sauce
Warm rolls
Homemade pumpkin bar

Library Notes & Tech Tips from Mrs. Martone
It's almost time for the Book Fair! The JMS library will be hosting a Scholastic Book Fair the week after Thanksgiving! We will also be hosting a parent night on Wednesday, December 1st for parents and students to shop the Book Fair! Scholastic now has a feature called eWallett which allows parents to create an account for their student and add money to the account that can be spent at the book fair. You can set up your student's eWallet here. Thank you for supporting our library!

Texting & Social Media Tips - for a Drama-Free life!
1. USERNAME & PASSWORD - Never share your username and password for any of your accounts with friends, no matter how good of a friend they are!
2. REQUESTS TO FOLLOW - Only follow or accept requests from people you know and people that treat you with kindness and respect.
3. POSTS - Only post appropriate and positive images and comments! Spread positivity--it's contagious!
4. CONFLICTS - Do not argue on social media or text--it is not an effective way to problem-solve. It's important to work things out in private and in a way that allows you to understand the other person's emotions and tone.
5. SCREENSHOTS - Do not take screenshots of other people's posts or texts and share them with others, especially if it's making fun of someone's post or involving them in the drama. This only results in hurt feelings and making problems bigger.
6. PRESSING SEND - Remember that anything you send is out of your control once it is sent! You cannot take anything back. Do not send something you may regret, including comments, pictures, etc.
7. ADVERTISING EXCLUSIONS - Do not intentionally leave someone out of an activity and then post it on social media for them to see. That is not kind.
