Staff Updates
Make sure you enter all DRA’s on SIS. Every student needs to be entered into SIS, even if they didn’t pass the next level. If you are not sure on how to do this, please see me.
Assessment Wall needs to be updated by October 19th.
Grade Cards
- Grade Cards are due Monday morning by 9:00!
- On the Student's Reading Level Portion, you may only choose S, NI, or U. The grade cards do NOT give us an option to put the actual DRA Level, we only do that on Progress Reports. If you need help or if this doesn't make sense, please let me know.
- Make sure to to attach the DRA Continuum to your Grade cards (First and Second Only at this time). This is on the South Park Handbook Book in Google.
- If student's are on and IEP or are ELL, make sure to mark their Grade Cards Modified Curriculum in those areas. Check with the Special Education Team on whether those students earn a P or an S if you haven't done so already.
- You can leave comments on the grade card this quarter if you want, but if you'd rather save it all for conferences, I am fine with that too!
Parent Teacher Conferences
- Please remember to sign up on my google sheet if you need me to attend your conferences! https://docs.google.com/document/d/14aLhJ-EgABBlKCJEA6Qhe3ytdw8GF_r1h36BM6InGPM/edit
- Iready Scores will be sent home to parents during conferences. I am still waiting to hear which form we will be printing.
- Make sure the office has a copy of your schedules!
Professional Development Day Ideas
- Ideas for great attention getters to use during transitions can be found at https://thecornerstoneforteachers.com/50-fun-call-and-response-ideas-to-get-students-attention/
- If you haven't done so already, go check out Kahoot. This is a great way to review topics in class using technology. This is a very engaging tool for our kids!
- If you are wanting an engaging way to teach vocab to your students whole class or during guided reading, you can search Eduprotocols and look for the Fast and Curious Quizizz.
- Take some time to check out Quizlet and Quizlet Live. On Quizlet live, students can team up to collaborate together to review given classroom content on their Chromebooks! I did this at our PD Day. Very fun and engaging!
Classroom Management Idea #1
- Mr. Potato Head to teach classroom rules. Mr. Potato head has Looking Eyes, Listening Ears, Kind Words, Helping Hands, and Walking Feet
- If you want more information on how to make this work in your classroom, please see me.
Classroom Management Idea # 2
- Here is an idea on how to use a clip chart system in your class. If you want more information, again please see me.
Iready
- Some teachers are requesting another set of Parent Iready papers that explains how to log on from home to hand out during Parent Teacher Conferences. If you are wanting this as well, please let me know. If not, no big deal at all.
- Growth Progress Monitoring will be available on October 14th. If you or your team are interested please let me know so I can help get that scheduled.
- As new kids come, please get them scheduled to take the Diagnostic. Let me know when they have completed this so I can add them to our BSIP Data.
