Challenge for the Week...

I am very excited for this school year! I think we have an incredible staff that is ready to impact the lives of students in positive ways. I look around on social media and see the postings of the new team members, and I think of how fortunate your new students are to have teachers like you. I believe we will accomplish great things this year!!

I am challenging you this week to write two notes of affirmation for someone at school, and remind them of why they are special and how they are impacting your life. Have a wonderful week and thank you for all you do to help Park Street Learn, Grow, and Thrive.

LEARN

Discourse Cubes and Cards

Each teacher will receive a set of discourse cubes and cards. These were donated from the iReady rep. They have question prompts for students to use when talking about Math.

Feedback...

During the breakout session in the Media Center, there were two questions we did have the opportunity to go over with every group. If you don't mind, please provide some feedback for us to help and support you during the year:

Leave Requests...

This year we will continue the Early Leave passes, but they will be electronic for easier tracking. Ms. Bagwell will include the link in the daily Panther Post, but it is also listed below.

Coaches' Corner

Back-to-School Tips

1. Adopt a growth mindset. Kids need to hear that their abilities are not “fixed” at birth, and that there is always room to improve.

2. Model kind behavior.

3. Get creative.

4. Build healthy habits. Students learn best when their physical and emotional needs are met.

5. Love unconditionally.

Who to contact:

Heather- ELA and Social Studies

Sharon- Math and Science

This year the co-coaching practice will be used by Heather and Sharon.

Capturing Kids Hearts Ideas...

Below are some ideas to help you get started with Capturing Kids Hearts in your classrooms. We can't wait to see your social contracts and hear all the "Good Things" you and your students have to celebrate.

THRIVE

Classroom Ordering...

In order to expedite your supply orders and get materials to you as quickly as possible, we are implementing "Ordering Days."

  • Supply orders will be placed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Pink sheets should be submitted to me by 3:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays for approval, otherwise they will wait until the following week.
  • Pink sheets can be placed in the box outside of my office door.

Affirmation Station...

Sometime this week we will be placing a box, bin, envelope (we are still figuring it out and are open to suggestions) for notes of affirmation. We want everyone to have the opportunity to leave you a note of affirmation for you and continue the very exciting capturing Kids Hearts work we have begun.

We will still do the staff Shout-Outs below, but it is nice to receive a personal note as well.

Staff Shout Outs... (final shout outs from last year)

1. Ann Rakestraw

Ann is an amazing ESOL team leader and friend. She is very diligent in communicating with our team about meetings, responsibilities, and new information. She always allows us opportunities for input when decisions have to be made. Ann cares about her team members deeply and often encourages us with treats or funny texts. She is a treasure to us and an asset to the students and teachers she supports. Great Job Ann!!!
