A Message From The Co-Principals
Good Afternoon and Happy Friday,
Welcome to the first issue of the Jayhawk Blast, the JHS Newsletter that we will be creating and sharing with students and families on a regular basis. The goal of the newsletter is to provide everyone in the JHS community with a central location for key information, reminders of upcoming events, notifications from the PTSA, as well as JHS highlights and celebrations. We expect the newsletter to grow and evolve throughout the year and our first issue has the following sections:
Message from the Co-Principals
Upcoming Events
Important Information
PTSA Connections Corner
Parental Resources
High School Highlights
Counseling Corner
It has been an outstanding opening to the 2019-20 school year at Jericho High School. Beginning with the first day of school, it has been so impressive to see students and teachers working hard in their classrooms to establish effective communications and explore the curricula. Some of our classes have even been on field trips where students had a chance to engage in real-life learning experiences.
During our opening weeks the school experienced Spirit Week where students and staff showcased their Jayhawk Pride. Last week we all felt the excitement of Homecoming. The highlights were the Pep Rally, the Homecoming Dance and the Family Color Run. We included some pictures and videos from these amazing events in the “High School Highlights” section below.
Please take the time to read through the newsletter and we encourage you to click on the various links to gain further access to information as well as a number of useful resources. Please note that this newsletter can be translated into many languages by scrolling to the very bottom of the page and clicking on the “Translate” link to select the language.
We look forward to a wonderful year at JHS and hope to see you at the next PTSA meeting on October 8 at 10am in the High School Library.
Sincerely,
Joan Rosenberg and David Cohen

Method Test Prep
Jericho High School is delighted to provide your child with free access to Method Test Prep (MTP), an online SAT/ACT test prep program that helps students build their math, reading, and writing skills. Students can listen to tutorials, watch instructional videos, and take quizzes to test for mastery. The program is highly adaptive and keeps track of a student’s strengths and weaknesses. Students have access to a large pool of practice questions and receive instant feedback upon completion of each question.
Students in grades 9-12 can access Method Test Prep through their Canvas accounts. The link to Method Test Prep is listed on your child’s Canvas account below the link for Naviance. Please have your child see their counselor if they require any assistance in accessing this free resource.
Method Test Prep is interactive, time efficient, and designed to be used independently or as a supplement to other SAT or ACT prep. We encourage you to take advantage of this valuable resource. To view a brief instructional video that highlights the features of Method Test Prep’s online tool visit:
