Principal's News

Week 1, Term 2

Welcome back everyone!

I hope that you are all rested up and ready for a big term ahead. Now that we have the 'settling in' done, it's time to ramp up the teaching and lift the expectations. I really want to see some of our kids 'on fire' because I know that they are very capable learners - in fact you told me so when we had our teacher/principal chat after P/T interviews.

I'd like to say to you that Term 2 will be a quiet one, but you know that it doesn't work that way. My big advice is to forward plan and make sure that you spread the load. Reports and parent/teacher interviews are on the horizon but there are lots of other things to do first. Don't stress, make sensible decisions now and avoid going round the twist!

Primary education is about teaching kids they CAN, before they think they can't!

thank you ...

To anyone who came in over the holidays [seen or unseen] to get organised for the term ahead, thank-you for your care and dedication. Your kids might never know or guess that you thought enough of them to do this but be assured that it will show, because you are already in front. You've got some credits in your bank.

welcome ...

We have 3 new students starting with us this term. Aidan, Gr1, Layla in Prep and ? in Nicole's room. All children know someone at St Augustine's so it shouldn't be too hard for them to settle in. Please just keep an eye out for them in the playground.

  • Cornerstone behaviours - critical in our school
  • Re-establishing toilet routines
  • Be prepared for wet weather, let the kids know your expectations and what they can and can't do/play with
  • Make sure you spend a moment with every child in your room this week. Let them know that they are important to you
  • Walk out with your children at the end of the day - it makes you look approachable and builds parent confidence in our school. It will only take 5 minutes.
  • Smile, :) .... lots of it!
