Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are excited to announce that Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin on February 4, 2019, following the schedule below. Kindergarten is an exciting and important year for students and their parents, and we are eager to welcome your child to the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District for the 2019-2020 school year.

A child of parent(s) or legal guardian(s) legally domiciled within the district is eligible for entrance into Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year if he/she attains the age of five on or before October 1, 2019.

Registration for all other grades (1-12) for the 2019-2020 school year will begin in May 2019 by appointment only.

Current Cambridge Park Preschool students are not required to complete the online pre-registration step. However, you will need to register for Kindergarten by following the steps outlined on the Current Cambridge Park PreK Students 2019-2020 Registration Procedures . Registration for current Cambridge Park Preschool students will begin the week of March 18, 2019.

The registration process consists of the following 4 steps:

Step 1: Complete the online Pre-Registration Form

The initial step requires the parent/guardian to complete an online pre-registration form prior to an in-person appointment: Online Pre-Registration Click HERE

Please make sure to click on 2019-2020 from the school year drop down list.

If you do not have access to a computer, you may schedule an appointment with the Central Registrar by calling (732) 705-4000 to use one of our chromebooks to complete the online pre-registration prior to your appointment date.

Step 2: Print out & Complete Registration Documents

Ravine Drive School's "Wall of Fame" - Reflex Math

Beginning March 1st, we will be displaying a "Wall of Fame" in the main hallway to highlight the number of problems solved by every first, second and third grade homeroom. The bar graph displayed on our "Wall of Fame" will be updated weekly to reflect the growth in Reflex Math by class. In addition to announcing the grade level winner every Friday morning, Mrs. Janover will also announce the names of any students who achieved 100% fluency using their online Reflex Math account. These students will also be presented with a Reflex Math 100% Fluency Certificate. Students are encouraged to continue using Reflex Math at home. Teachers have provided log in information for all students in grades 1, 2, and 3. Please contact your child's teacher if you need log in information. Good luck to all of our homerooms and students! Students can use the link below to log in from home.

Teach Your Child to Think Things Through

There are many ways you can help your child learn to ask questions and think through problems. Here are some tips:

  • Ask thinking questions. Say things like, "I wonder why that happened." Encourage your child to ask the same kinds of questions.

  • Encourage your child to find facts to back up his opinions. If he feels strongly about an issue, help him write a letter to the newspaper or a local official.

  • Ask questions about schoolwork. After your child reads a chapter from his book, ask him what he thinks is the most important thing he read.

  • Talk about the questions your child’s teachers are asking, not just what they are teaching. In social studies, the teacher might have asked, "Why did people come to live in the Americas?"

  • Think out loud. We don’t always let our children know how we solve problems. The next time you face a decision, share your thoughts. Talk about each step. Your child will see what it takes to think a problem through.
