Our goal is 100% attendance, and we cannot do it without you! We sincerely urge you and your students to attend and visit each of their teachers. Quarter grades are very important, as they will give your student and you an indication of his or her progress at mid-semester. These grades, however, are not the official quarter three grades. Quarter three grades will be solidified at the end of the quarter on March 18th. These are not a part of the student’s permanent record. It is very important, therefore, to identify why a particular grade was given and what the student needs to do if the grade is not consistent with his or her ability.
When possible, please attend conferences using the suggested schedule above. We have divided the schedule to avoid long lines. Please limit your conference to no more than five minutes. If you need additional time, please schedule another meeting with the teacher(s). Most seventh grade teachers will be in the west gym, and most of the eighth grade teachers will be in east gym. Counselors and administrators will be present, so please introduce yourself.
Westside Middle School proudly presents Annie!
Little orphan Annie is taken from her orphanage, and the clutches of evil Miss Hannigan, to stay at billionaire Oliver Warbucks’ mansion for the holidays. When Annie wins the hearts of Warbucks and his staff, they set out on an epic mission to find Annie’s parents. Meanwhile, Miss Hannigan, in partnership with her brother Rooster and his girlfriend Lily, attempt to make some money out of this unique situation. The stories become intertwined as the lovable Annie’s story hits the national spotlight. -http://broadwaymusicalhome.com/

Our March Meeting has been canceled due to Parent Teacher Conferences and State Basketball. We will meet in April 25th at 6:30 in the WMS Library.
Spring is a busy time at the middle school with Parent-Teacher Conferences, Staff Appreciation Week and all of the athletic and academic recognition programs we support. Thank you so much to everyone who has already signed up to donate items for the teachers' conference meals, we are still accepting donations to offset the cost of the dinner. In addition, please look for upcoming communications for ways to assist with staff appreciation week.
Thank you, stay warm and safe and think spring!!

WMS Athletics
Successful seasons of wrestling and girls’ basketball are nearing completion. Parents, athletes, and coaches will celebrate the efforts of everyone involved in these sports on Thursday, March 7th at 5:00 p.m. in the WMS cafeteria. Please make every attempt to join us!
7th/8th Grade Girls’ Track: On Monday, March 11th or Wednesday, March 13th girls interested in participating in track this spring at WMS can sign up after school in the Team 8A commons. Head Track coach for the girls is April Allen.
7th/8th Grade Boys’ Track: Short meetings and sign-up for boys interested in participating in track this spring at WMS will take place in the cafeteria right after school on Monday, March 11th, Tuesday, March 12th and Wednesday, March 13th. Head Track coaches for the boys are Emily Vlcek and Virgie Widdowson.
Track practice for both teams will begin Monday, March 25th. Practices will be held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 - 5:00 throughout the track season.
All 8th grade participants need to have a current sports physical on file prior to the first day of practice. If this is the first sport that a student-athlete has participated in at WMS this year, the athletic participation fee needs to be taken care of before the first track meet in April.

Cold Weather Care for your Mac Book
- Before turning on your computer, allow it to sit out and reach room temperature (between 50 and 95 Fahrenheit). Powering on the computer while the ambient temperature is outside of this range can cause damage to the computer.
- Do not leave your computer in the car or any place where it might be exposed to extreme temperatures for extended periods of time (more than a few hours).
- Keep your computer sleeve/case zipped up to help prevent snow and rain from getting inside, but be aware that the bag is not waterproof.
Please call the WMS Tech Support Department with any additional questions or concerns about your computer. Tech Support Office: (402) 408-8606
