Health and Safety
Fall is here and it is time to start preparing for seasonal breaks and gatherings. WCSD is continuing efforts to keep schools safe and successful by providing access to no-cost, over-the-counter (OTC)/at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen tests for testing students and school staff returning from Thanksgiving/fall break. CDPH encourages all students and staff to test for COVID-19 before they return to school following Thanksgiving/fall break. Students and staff who test positive should stay home. Please note: While at-home testing is not required, testing remains a critical safety measure to reduce the possibility of an early 2023 surge.
We have two Covid-19 tests for every student available for pick up at the Buena Vista Main Office now through November 18th. If you have any questions, please reach out to the main office directly.
We continue to have resources regarding Covid-19 and health and safety on our district website, you can access that information here.
4th Grade Opportunity!
Help us spread the word! Fourth graders can get into 19 state parks for FREE. A California State Park Adventure Pass helps them do just that. Parents of fourth grade students can sign up for the pass on behalf of their student. For more information, visit www.parks.ca.gov/AdventurePass.
Below is a Spanish translation of the paragraph above:
¡Ayúdanos a correr la voz! Los estudiantes de cuarto grado pueden ingresar a 19 parques estatales GRATIS. Un California State Park Adventure Pass les ayuda a hacer precisamente eso. Los padres de los estudiantes de cuarto grado pueden inscribirse para obtener el pase en nombre de su estudiante. Para obtener más información, visite www.parks.ca.gov/AdventurePass.

BV Fun Run Update!
THANK YOU to the BV community for a successful and fun, Bulldog Fun Run! Not only did we meet our school wide fundraising goal (yay!) but we were able to celebrate our Bulldog spirit while doing it. Seeing kiddos run (or walk, skip and bunny hop) their hearts out while their families and staff cheered on served as a great reminder of how grateful we all are to be a part of this special community.
We had 64% participation and 90% of classrooms reached their goal which equates to $2k+ to be reinvested back to those classrooms!
Ms. Bockser's 5th Grade class was the TOP DAWG, raising $3,852.
The best family fun run around!
Gather your friends and family for a Thanksgiving morning trot through downtown Walnut Creek! Costumes encouraged. A fun, festive way to kick off the holidays, and Forma donates $10,000 to WCEF. Register here today!
The Turkey Trot is back on Thanksgiving!
Man a water station, or cheer on racers – we need 280 volunteers! It seriously takes a village. Grab a friend or family member (or 10!) and sign up today here. You can also email contact
Deck the halls with Honey Bear Trees!
The always popular Honey Bear Tree lot is back and supporting WCEF! Located across from Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Honey Bear Trees has beautiful trees straight from Oregon—and free honey with your purchase! Mention WCEF when you check out and Honey Bear Trees gives 20% back to our schools. Delivery available and plenty of parking!
Open from 9am - 9pm, 7 days a week, November 19 - December 24; cash or check only.
Support WCEF on #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is coming up on November 29. This giving season, join us and give the gift of education. A donation to WCEF helps ensure a well-rounded education for the 5,000 students in our community. From $25-$2,500 or more, or even a monthly donation of $7.50 per month, your support helps create an enriched public education at the seven schools in WCSD and at Las Lomas. Donate today at wcefk12.org/weekofgiving.
