The Renaissance
The rebirth of the European Civilization
How this event is a changemaker
The Renaissance followed the Middle Ages and started the interest in humanism. This was a time where people valued education and the arts (art & music). During the Renaissance people discovered new continents and the substitution of the Copernican for the Ptolemaic system of astronomy. The Renaissance lasted through the 14th and 17th century's. Renaissance means "rebirth" so this event was truly the rebirth of Europe.

Many famous art figures were influenced by this event. Some of those art figures included Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Da Vinci was a great artist and his fame rests on these 3 masterpieces. The Mona Lisa, The Virgin of the Rocks, and The Last Supper. Michelangelo's best known work is the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Raphael's greatest work is The School of Athens. Raphael was influenced by Da Vinci and used many of his concepts in his own work. The Renaissance architecture was created by Donato Bramante who went to Rome in 1499. His first masterpiece was the Tempietto in 1502.
