This Week @ P.S.88Q: May 18
Together We Can Achieve The Extraordinary
As We Begin Week 9
We all continue to wish you and your families health, safety and support. These are indeed trying times, and throughout this remote learning period, the amount of patience and flexibility from the entire P.S. 88Q community has been amazing. We find ourselves asking many questions these days, like, When will this quarantine end? When will there be a vaccine? What will September look like? We wish we had those answers, but what we have continued to do is work together for our wonderful students. Throughout this time, they, and you, have shown us how resilient you are and how much they really miss P.S. 88Q.
We can confidently say that we are strategically planning for September to prepare all of our students for success. We will be ready to meet the students where they are academically and begin day 1 with supporting them. A big part of us knowing where they are is I-Ready. Students have been working on I-Ready since October, and it provides us with valuable data to support each students strengths and needs. It is also something they do completely independent. Teachers look at that data weekly and plan their instruction for the students based on what they see. During this time of remote learning, there are so many tasks and activities that have made parents the teacher. We are so appreciative of EVERYTHING YOU DO, but I-Ready is something they do independently. This data will help us on our first day identifying where students are and begin to support. Parents, this is your time to take a break!! We all know how much you need that. We have enormous respect and gratitude for all the parents who are juggling remote learning on top of working and taking care of their family. You are superheroes in all of our eyes, especially your children!
Week 9 leads us into Memorial Day weekend, a day to remember the men and women who gave their life while serving in the military. A solemn holiday for sure. Our own Nestor Espinoza is serving our country in the National Guard. It would be a wonderful gesture for the students to send him a video message or maybe a letter or card to express their thanks.
There are so many things going on at PS 88Q, and it is hard to keep track some days! We have included a handy weekly menu of our live events open to everyone. We look forward to seeing you!
