Message From The Director
Clinton-Massie Local Schools cafeterias are self-sufficient. Self-sufficient means we do not receive funding from the schools unless we are in the negative at the end of the year. This is mandated by the government, that the cafeterias cannot be in the negative at the end of the year. We are doing our best to avoid this as much as possible. We have cut our staffing, went to one line in the MS & HS, paying very close attention to the charging in each building, keeping the Cornfield Cafe open (which we do make money from), and cutting back on calling in substitutes. I am very pleased to say our cafeterias are operating with 16 staff members, and 5 years ago we had 24.
We passed a State audit with a score of 100% last year. That audit is not only on the menus but also for anything extra we sell ( ala carte, coffee shop items, etc.) The audit is done by the ODE, state, and federal auditors. A perfect audit means you are following all government guidelines for your menus for breakfast and lunch. It also means all of our policies and procedures are compliant and apparently needed.
I will be adding news from the cafeterias occasionally throughout the year. If you would like to see anything specific, please let me know. I will do my best to add anything requested, if possible. If it is too lengthy, I can also offer for you to call and we can set up a time to come in and discuss what you would like to know about. I can also offer to explain why we have to do the things we do. If there is anyone that would like to come in and see how we operate in the cafeterias, we would be more than happy to let you oversee our operations

Waffle Days at the Elementary
This has been a fun and exciting day for the elementary students. We have waffles on Wednesdays for the elementary students. They receive a whole grain waffle, and then they can add toppings to their waffle. All toppings that are added are within the calories allowed for K-5 breakfast (strawberries, blueberries, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, sugar-free cool whip topping, sprinkles).
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
We would like to start offering ways of communication and “keeping up with the times”, with our parents, community, staff, and anyone else interested. There are so many changes made with the way we serve our students, mandated government guidelines, and food service policies and procedures to follow. We want to have a way to communicate with anyone that has questions about “Why we do what we do”.
I will be posting on social media, school website, and any groups interested in the school district and community. If anyone has questions or concerns they would like to see discussed please share those with us. If anyone would ever like to come in to observe “Why we do what we do”, we would love to have you come in and join us at lunchtime for the day.
