Introduction from Your Parent Liaison
Greetings Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
My name is Candace Steadman and one of the roles I will serve in for the 2022/23 SY is Parent Liaison for Spalding High School. In this role, I will provide informational support to parents and community resources. My goal is to strengthen the partnership between you and our school. During the course of the school year, I will be coordinating events and workshops that will provide you the support you need to be a participant in your student(s) achievement. Title I Annual Meeting Information
Spalding High's Annual Title I meeting was held Tuesday, Aug. 23 (9:00 AM & 5:00 PM).
What was covered: In this meeting, we discussed the topics below--
o Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
o Intent and Purpose of Title I
o Title I Funding /Supports in Place to Help your Student(s)
o Academic Standards Expected of All Students
o Measuring Student Progress
o Parent Resource Centers
o District and School Parent and Family Engagement Policies

Parents' Right to Know
In compliance with the requirements of Every Student Succeeds Act, the Griffin-Spalding County School System would like to inform you that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional(s).
The following information may be requested:
- Whether your child's teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived
- Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
- Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
Home-Parent-Student CompactA School-Parent Compact is a jointly developed agreement with parents. The compact outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and how they will work together as partners to make sure all students reach grade-level standards. There are many opportunities for parents to be involved at Spalding High. Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to the challenging State academic standards. The goal is to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support family engagement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with parents and family members a written Parent and Family Engagement Policy.
