The ideal image of the 1900's
From 1900 to 2000
The idea of 'beauty'....
Over the last hundred years the idea of 'beauty' has been continuously changing all over the world. In the 1900's the skirt was at ankle length, where as now the fashionable length of the skirt is becoming shorter and shorter. The ideal body weight is also getting smaller. The woman on the right was the icon of the 1900's, she had towering hair and was slender which is what others aspired to be.
The 1920's & 1930's
1920's was the decade of the 'flappers'. Women broke the rules and became them self doing what they wanted to do, not what there were expected to do. They wore short skirts and cropped there hair, which was not expected at the time.
The women of the 1930's had narrow hips and were quite tall. The fashion hadn't changed much from the decade before them though.
Fashion Icons
Marilyn Munroe
The fashion icon of the 1950's.
Fiona Fawcett
The fashion icon of the 1970's.
Brooke Shields
The fashion icon of the 1980's.
The idea of fashion has changed greatly since the 1900's. And what is fashionable today, will be 'ugly' another day.
Don't worry about your size!
People will like you just the way you are and if they don't, they don't deserve your friendship!
