EOY Literacy Assessments
Window: May 1-31; All ELAR assessment schedules and information are located on the GPS under Assessment for Grades K-5. Scores should be entered in Aware by May 31st.
NEW: All students in Kinder and First Grade will be assessed using the PAPI in accordance to HB 2886 requiring that all students be screened for dyslexia at the end of K and 1. PAPI scores will be entered in Aware as a separate test called “17-18 (Grade Level) PAPI.”
Knowing the importance of utilizing the most accurate and current student data, all students will receive a face-to-face DRA by the end of May.
End-of-Year Writing Samples
For end-of-year writing samples, teachers will collect and score one expository writing piece for each student. This should be completed during the EOY Literacy Assessment Window in May.
Students complete the writing independently (similar to a flash draft)
Grade level teams determine their own writing prompts
Scored samples (with rubric attached) go in students’ yellow folders to be used by next year’s teachers
Kinder-1st Grade use Early Beginners OR Advanced Beginners rubrics, depending on the level of each student
Science
Live organisms- ALL will need to be picked up at Science Store- nothing coming directly to schools- An email will go out to science team leads when the organisms arrive.
1st Egg- Pick up on April 24th Tuesday between 3:00-5:00. Must take eggs back to school on that same date.
Math
- 5th/2nd Grade CER
The student performance on each component of the rubric (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) will be documented in AWARE in the Student Inventory section, not in the local benchmark section where the scantrons are located. Teachers should see the option available for their specific grade level. (Cluster 5 or Cluster 6 Personal Financial Literacy CER). Once they select this option, they will manually enter in the scoring for each part of the rubric. Please let us know if you have any questions.
