Please Welcome our new staff members!

Kindergarten: Lindsay Burke

Mrs. Burke began her career as a kindergarten teacher at The Browning School, an all-boy preparatory school, located in the heart of New York City. During her seven years there, she focused on the development and best practices of her students at the early childhood age. In the classroom, Lindsay provides hands-on experiences for her students and believes it is crucial for children to become involved in their own learning process. In addition to teaching, Lindsay took on the role of After-School Director at The Browning School. Under her leadership, the program introduced classes in robotics, Mandarin, Lego construction, and engineering. Lindsay is looking forward to continuing her teaching career at SCS. The Spring Lake community holds a special place in her heart. Lindsay attended SCS from kindergarten through eighth grade and her family has been a part of the St. Catharine’s community for generations. Mrs. Burke has relocated back home and is raising her son, Jack, with her husband in Manasquan.

PreK-4: Colleen Nash

My name is Colleen Nash and I will be teaching one of the Pre-Kindergarten classes this year at St. Catharine School. I grew up in Spring Lake until I was five years old and then my family moved to Sea Girt. I attended St. Catharine School and was a member of the Varsity Basketball team from the fifth grade to the eighth grade. I graduated from St. Catharine School and attended St. Rose High School in Belmar. After graduating from St. Rose, I attended Cabrini College (now Cabrini University) in Radnor, PA. I graduated from Cabrini with a B.S. in Marketing, dual certifications in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education, where I applied extensive concentration in Early Childhood Education.

I have been working in the field of education for 23 years. Most recently, I worked at the Atlantis Preparatory School for 20 years. During my years at Atlantis Prep, I was a Junior Kindergarten Teacher, Midstream Teacher (Transitional Kindergarten), Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Director and Director of the Primary School (Junior Kindergarten through Sixth Grade). I wrote many of the curriculums that are being used currently at Atlantis Prep. I have worked both as a teacher and an administrator, which has given me experience with both the students and their parents. Prior to Atlantis Prep, I worked at St. David’s Nursery School, a NAEYC accredited school, in Wayne, Pennsylvania where I taught Pre-Kindergarten.

My husband and I have been blessed with our son Matthew, who will be entering the fourth grade at St. Catharine School in September. As parents, we have been very impressed with the education Matthew has received thus far at SCS and I look forward to being a part of such a dedicated team of professionals.

I have a true love for teaching and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for education with the students. I am extremely excited to be teaching in my alma mater. Walking the hallways of the primary wing in September will bring back some wonderful childhood memories. I am truly happy to be starting on my new educational adventure with the staff, parents, and of course the students of St. Catharine School.

PTA News

Below are the PTA preliminary financials for the 2016 - 2017 school year. Thanks to your continued support, the new playground will be in place for the start of the upcoming school year! It was an honor and a privilege for us to serve our school community during this exciting new beginning for SCS. We look forward to seeing you all on July 7, 2017 at the Candlelight Ball to celebrate Sr. Margo Kavanaugh, Mrs. Ellen Meixsell and Mrs. Kathy Cunningham. Thank you and we hope everyone enjoys summer!
