World Down Syndrome Day
Every year on March 21st people around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored mismatched socks. March 21st is symbolic because people with Down Syndrome have three copies of the 21st chromosome. We invite everyone at Sheridan Hill to participate by wearing brightly colored mismatched socks to school on Monday, 3/21. We will celebrate all the wonderful things about people with Down Syndrome and help to advocate for individual rights and respect.

Drop Off Reminders
As the winter months bring dark, cold, and snowy mornings, please remember:
- Students need to be dropped off by 8:00am to start their school day.
- Students are marked tardy at 8:05am and will need to sign in to the main office
- Please drop your child off in the large bus loop by the front door it you do not see a drop-off aide outside (as the school day has begun and they are in class)
- When dropping your child(ren) off, they should exit the side closest to the sidewalk
- Please be mindful of other vehicles moving in the circle
Attendance Reminders
If your child is going to be absent from school or will be tardy, it is important that you contact the attendance clerk, Mrs. Gilbert to report the absence. You can reach her at 407-9270 or at sgilbert@clarenceschools.org.
Why does attendance matter?
- Starting in Kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
- Missing 10% can make it harder to learn to read.
- Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day or two every few weeks.
- Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
- Absences can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help catch students up.

Kindergarten Round Up
Our Kindergarten Round-Up will take place at Sheridan Hill from March 23-April 1. If you or someone you know has not yet registered for an upcoming kindergartener, please call the office at 407-9250. We are looking forward to seeing all the new sharks!
