News and Updates from FSMA
We are GROWING!
As you heard earlier this week, the State Board of Education has approved our request to expand FSMA. We know that this brings many questions and encourage you to visit our website as we have posted Frequently Asked Questions on the homepage. Please know that we intend to share details as they are finalized and will be giving an update at the April "Branches" Meeting. We are so appreciative of all the support families and staff have provided and look forward to being together for many years to come.
Adults - come out tonight to celebrate (Tonic in Wilmington from 6 - 9 pm)
Shamrock Shenanigans
On Thursday, the building was abuzz with tales of leprechauns and their mischievous behavior. Classrooms were "messed up" and traps were set to remedy the silliness of the tricky beings who left their green mark all over the school. The teachers and students really got into this special day and there was a sea of green in every classroom.
Field Trip Fun!
Our 4th, 5th and 6th graders were out and about this week. On Wednesday, they traveled to The Grand on Market St to see a play about Ellis Island. On the way back they walked through Rodney Square and saw the flowers they planted in the fall beginning to sprout. On Thursday, they headed to Philadelphia and visited the Franklin Institute. They were able to explore the museum as well as check out the Pixar Exhibit - sooo cool!
Coming Soon:
When we return from Spring Break, Smarter Balanced Testing starts for 3rd - 6th graders in Language Arts and Math. So as not to overwhelm children, the testing period will be spread out over the month. Teachers are encouraging children to do their best and are working hard to keep it a stress-free environment. Please email liz.madden@fsma.k12.de.us if you have any questions.
Upcoming Events:
3/21 - "Rock your Socks" Event / Spring Recycling Starts - shoes only
3/23 and 3/24 - Parent/Teacher Conferences for ALL students (no school for children)
