Salmon Week 4 Update
September 21-25, 2015
Overview
We finished the story Coyote School News this week and worked on Drawing Conclusion/Inferencing as we read. This is a very difficult skill for the students to grasp and we will continue to work the entire year on this skill.
Social Studies we wrapped of the the first half of the Southwest this week. Science is moving into the circulatory system and soon the skeletal system. If anyone knows how I can get my hands on a heart (a pig heart) that would be great.
Peek at the Week Ahead!
Social Studies: The history of the southwest will be our focus for a few weeks. We will be studying and learning about the Navajo and Hopi Tribes. If you have artifacts that you are willing to share from these tribes I would love to share. If they are too fragile please send a photo and we can share that way.
Science: We are continuing the human body and the circulatory system as well as respiratory system. We have been completing little quizzes at the end of each system and at the end we will take one comprehension quiz over all 5 systems. Our main focus is to understand the purpose of each system:
Digestive System: to absorb nutrients into our body.
Muscular System: to help our body move.
Upcoming Dates

September 25th: Dahlicious Day! This is for my Walk to Read but anyone in my class is welcome to join in the Marvelous Fun.
September 30th: Early Release Day 1:15
October 15th-16th: PIR Day - no school for students

*Spelling Tests are on Thursdays!
*The sheet titled "Family Times" is for your child to use to help review for their weekly reading quiz. This has some great information and a few activities that will help your child review the skills for the week. I do not require this to be turned in only to use as a review at home.
