News from this week
Dear Parents,
We learned a lot this week, from 2x2 multiplication to the causes of the Revolutionary War. Thank you to all of the parents who helped their students complete their Multiplication homework this week doing the area model. It can be a little tricky at first, but the students are really catching on. Remember that you can find lots of resources on my website to help you and your child. We will have our Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction test on Wednesday and our test of the The Road to the Revolution (causes of the American Revolution) on Friday. We will also take some daily grades on these topics earlier in the week. I have a slideshow that we did in class for the Road to the Revolution to help your child study. Students should also bring their Social Studies notebook home every night to help them study each night. It's too much information to cram in the night before!
As I mentioned during Curriculum Night, I will begin Morning Math sessions starting Tuesday September 11th at 7:15 AM. In these sessions I will provide extra help on our current math topics, as well as review past topics. You do not need to sign up. Just drop your child off at the front doors at 7:15. You can drive right through the bus loop. The buses will not be there at that time. Please do NOT use the car rider lane on the side of the building. The front doors are open and there is someone at the front desk. Your child will say that they are there for Morning Math with Mrs. Stoffle. Please be sure not to drop off your child early as there is no one available to watch them. If I ever need to cancel on a Tuesday, I will send a message via Remind.
If you would like to donate any treats to our class treasure box, you may send them in at any time. I usually have small things in there, such as candy, small toys, pens, etc. The treasure box is one of the treats students can purchase with their classroom money. If you have a question about any items you may want to send in, just send me an email.
Our reading program and typing practice has officially started. Reading logs and Typing logs will be sent home in Friday Folders for the following week, and they are due every Monday or the first day of the school week. Please make sure to sign your child's reading log and typing log every week or else it will not be counted. Also, if you decide to submit the reading log online, please send me an email by Monday morning. I do not get a list of online submissions until Wednesday, so I need to get the confirmation of submission from the parents.
Please refer to the important dates section below for some upcoming testing dates. Fourth grade is NOT testing, but we ask that you do not eat with your child during those dates.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Stoffle

September 7, 2018:
Family involvement in a child's education increases the child's likelihood of success. Your help with our behavior system is very important. We ask that you support our staff in the following ways:
• Please remind your child of the school's general behavior expectations each day before he/she leaves for school: Being ready, respectful, and responsible.
• Ask your child to give examples of how he/she demonstrated expectations while at school in different settings.
Thank you for your support. It is greatly appreciated.
