Writing
Students will be making final edits to chapter 1 and creating chapter 4, which is their speech. Speeches should begin trickling home at the end of this week and early next week, which gives them almost a full month to prepare.
Language Arts
Wordly Wise: We will begin working on Wordly Wise unit 14 this week. WW 14 A & B will be due on Thursday, 4/13. Due to ISTEP+ testing next week, we will not take the unit 14 test until 4/28.
Words Their Way: Quizzes will be on Friday, 4/14. We will not have WTW next week due to ISTEP+.
Reading
April is National Poetry Month, so we will be spending our reading time this month learning about figurative language and poetry. This week, we will be focusing on figurative language, such as similes, metaphors, hyperboles, idioms, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia, allusions, and oxymorons.
Math
This week will be a review week for a couple purposes. There are a few standards on the report card that aren't covered heavily in the textbook, so I need to make sure I've assessed students on those standards. It will also serve as a great review for ISTEP+ next week.
Science
We will be starting our final unit of science this week. This unit covers forces and motion. This week, we will be focusing on motion, speed, and the difference forces that can affect moving objects, such as gravity, friction, thrust, lift, drag, and buoyancy.
