Cooper Elementary
Cooper Cubs
Note from the Principal
Dear Cooper Families,
The safety and welfare of our students and staff are our highest priority at Cooper Elementary. Next week Cooper will conduct a school wide dangerous intruder drill. We practice school safety drills throughout the year to help our staff and students know what to do in an emergency. Parents will receive an email informing them that the drill was completed that same day.
Over the past 2 years, school and district staff have worked closely with local authorities and representatives to develop and implement improved safety procedures. During that time, our teachers and staff have been trained in ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate). Additionally, teachers have worked with students on school safety by having discussions in the classroom along with the school-wide drills. To assist with the discussion, teachers have been reading the book, "I'm Prepared, Not Scared" with their students.
Please talk with your child about the drill and classroom discussions. Our goal, while practicing important safety procedures, is to be sure all students feel safe.
If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to call us.
Thank you
Aaron Lieberz, Principal
