Distance learning continues

A message from the Superintendent

December 4, 2020

Dear Mounds View Public Schools community,

As promised, I want to provide you with an update regarding our learning model following our recent meeting with the Regional Support Team. Throughout the meeting, both state and local health officials expressed extreme concern about the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic. The transmission in our local community continues at rates that are in excess of 100 cases per 10,000 residents, which they informed us is taxing the health care system.

As a result of these conditions, their clear recommendation was that our schools continue in distance learning and that we meet with them again in two weeks to assess current conditions. As you know, we are scheduled to begin our winter break at that time. As a result, distance learning will remain in effect for all families through winter break. Considering these realities, if significant community transmission continues through winter break, families should expect to remain in distance learning at least through early January and possibly beyond, depending on the conditions.

Be assured that we continue to look forward to a time when conditions have changed and all of our students can return to our schools.

Sincerely,

Chris Lennox

Superintendent
