What are viruses?

What do they to in a cell?

  • Infect feels to make copies of themselves.
  • Cause diseases in plants,animals and bacteria.


Reproduction

  • The virus attaches to the host cell and injects DNA/RNA into the cell which causes the host cell to make copies of the virus, which breaks free and kills the host cell.


Size

  • Viruses are very small, smaller than the cells they infect.

  • Usually bed rest and lots of fluids work but doctors may prescribe antiviral medicines like Tamiflu and Relenza

  • You can prevent it with the flu vaccine.
