The Bobcat
Welcome Back!
Vision
Academic Excellence and Success
From Mr. R's Desk
Teachers and Staff,
Welcome to the new academic school year. I hope you enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer with an opportunity to enjoy family and friends. Summer always seems to be filled with so much expectation to regroup, reflect and refine ideas. Summer, gives us time to do the things that we couldn't do during the school year. Hopefully, the break gave some of you the time to travel, to make that medical appointment you’ve been putting off for eight months, to fix up the house, to read a book, or to relax at the beach.
We are very excited about the new school-year and all its challenges. Even though we have lost key staff members, I strongly believe that we have added a solid group to our Bobcat family:
- Lisa Lopez - ELA
- Lori Garcia - PE
- Lizzette Esparza - Health/PE
- Dolores Zuniga - Athletic Trainer
- Jennifer Alfaro - Science
- Johnny Rodriguez - Social Studies
- Amanda Munoz - Art
- Jose Flores - BIM
- Annette Jaramillo - Dean of Instruction
- Adolina Rodriguez - Secretary
- Serena Ponce - PEIMS
- Celida Hinojosa - Bookkeeper
- Nancy Flores - Counselor
- Claudia Villarreal - At-risk Counselor
- Juan Cantu - Head Band Director
We are looking forward to a successful academic year. The new school year should bring excitement, a new purpose, a sense of improvement, and a recommitment to the most difficult and rewarding profession in the world. My new school year resolution is to recommit...recommit to my passion as an educator; recommit to positivity; recommit to networking and making new connections; recommit to being a servant leader; recommit to the belief that I am supposed to be a learner; and to recommit to the educator I know I can be.
One final note and to steal some words from Coach John Wooden, ‘I am very interested in each of you as an individual, but throughout the school year I must act in what I consider to be in the best interest of the team, specifically our students. Your race, religion will have no bearing on my judgment, but your ability, attitude, professionalism, and cooperation and how it works into the vision and mission of Rio Hondo High School will definitely come into play.’

As an academic institution, it is necessary that we…
- TEACH students cognitive and social skills;
- GUIDE students to be responsible, contributing citizens;
- BUILD character in our students;
- SUPPORT students in a process of self-discovery;
- INSPIRE students through the study of humanity’s great works;
- and PREPARE students for the 21st century.
