Upcoming Dates- Fall 2020 Return to School Schedule
Please review the October 29 letter from the Superintendent. This letter provides the following timeline:
- Wednesday, November 4: Headstart, and PreK students will return with AM and PM sessions for in-person instruction each school day (Monday-Thursday). Students in Grades K, 1, 6, 9, and 12 will begin the hybrid model with in-person instruction 2 days per week with the A group attending Monday and Wednesday and the B group attending Tuesday and Thursday. Fridays will remain an online workday with dedicated office hours and opportunities for intervention and enrichment as well as professional development and instructional planning.

Laptop Bag Drive
"FA Mentors/S2S/NHS have joined forces to start a laptop bag drive. Drop off your new laptop bag/backpack with laptop sleeve to the school. They will be collected, sanitized and available to students soon who need to protect their laptop. NOTE: NHS, it is also requested that you include new school supplies such as pencils/pens, glue sticks and colored pencils with the bookbag. Any NHS students who drop off a bag need to tag and loop their name on the bag for service credit"

Counselor's Corner
Struggling with a class? Follow these steps, and let us support you!
- Set up an appointment to meet with the teacher one-on-one
- Attend multiple intervention/tutoring opportunities with the classroom teacher (this can be accomplished by requesting one-on-one Google Meets with the teacher during asynchronous sessions so you can get assistance with any content/tasks that you are struggling with).
- Discuss your concerns with your school counselor
- Requests a parent / teacher conference to include parent, student, teacher, and counselor.

As we have passed the deadline for submission of requests for letters of recommendation for 11/1 college application deadlines, please make sure to submit your requests for any 11/15 deadlines by 11/2!

Literacy Corner
Poetry Out Loud Competition - This year's Poetry Out Loud competition will look a little different: it's held virtually, and any student can register themselves! LHS will not be holding a school-wide competition this year, but the literacy coach/English department chair, Ms. Bridges, is available to answer any questions students may have. The registration form is linked here, and the deadline is before midnight on Monday, November 2nd. Ms. Bridges will hold a Google Meet informational session on Monday at 12:30 PM for interested or returning students - the meet code is LHSPoetry.
SAT
****** SAT will not be administered at LHS on November 7, 2020.******
The SAT will be administered on site at SMCPS on December 5th. This particular administration of the SAT will not include the essay portion. Students need to go to the College Board site and register for the SAT as they have always done. Juniors and seniors may register but only seniors will be given a voucher for the exam cost. More information will be coming forth on how to enter the voucher when registering online for the exam. November 5 is the registration deadline for the December 5th SAT administration. Please be sure to share this information with your current seniors.
ALL SENIORS: Take this survey to let us know if you plan to take the SAT on December 5th.
IMPORTANT SENIOR UPDATE!
- "Senior Order Week" will run from October 19th-October 26th.
- Lindsey Glamp, our LHS Jostens representative, will host a Senior Parent Meeting on October 22nd at 6pm via ZOOM. Yearbook
School Portraits
School portraits for 9th graders will take place during English classes on Monday, November 16 and Tuesday, November 17. Pictures for 10th and 11th grades will take place during English classes on Wednesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 19.
Students who are remaining virtual may come to Leonardtown from 2:45-3:30 Monday, November 16 through Thursday, November 19 to be photographed. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Page.

Grad Ads
Senior parents interested in creating a grad ad for the yearbook can do so through the Tribute Ads website. The deadline for the ads is December 14,2021. Please visit the Tribute Ads site to create an ad honoring your senior.
Pictures Needed
We are in need of pictures for some of our spreads! See below for specifics regarding what pictures we still need. Please upload pictures directly to our Yearbook website using ReplayIt or send pictures to Mrs. Page.
Please do not submit screenshots of pictures, selfies, or pictures with filters. Please make sure all students featured in the pictures are identified with first and last name and grade level.
Best Friends: Does your best friend go to Leonardtown? Send a picture of you and your best friend(s) for our Best Friends spread.
Outside Activities: Do you participate in an activity outside of school? We’d love to see pictures of you participating in sports, dance, racing, or whatever it is you do outside of the walls of Leonardtown High School.
Summer: Did you do something fun over the summer? Send a picture of you (and maybe even some other Leonardtown students) of something you did or a place you visited over the summer.
Life During Quarantine: Do you have a virtual work space that you have made your own? Share a picture of you in your virtual work space for our quarantine spread. What has kept you busy during quarantine? Have you picked up a new hobby or have a favorite mask? Send us a picture of what your life has been like during quarantine.
Outdoor Activities: Do you love St. Mary’s County and participate in activities that represent our county? If you are a hunter, fisherman, farmer, or firefighter, we’d like to include you in the yearbook. Please make sure no weapons are visible in the pictures.
