HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 3 Week 6 - 28 August 2020
FROM GEORDIE
Good afternoon all,
Another fun, exciting, sunny week here at Holy Rosary. I would like to congratulate our Year 3 class, Mrs Johnson and Mr D’Aloia for their AMAZING ZOO ASSEMBLY that was performed this morning, your rapping skills were exceptional. It was also great to have some of our parents attend up in the gym and the performance and awards should appear on SeeSaw soon.
A reminder that next Tuesday is our Parent / Teacher interviews and school closes at 12pm with the first interview at 12.30pm. It is a really big day for our staff so please help them to stick to the 10 minutes. If you have something to discuss that you think requires more time, feel free to book a time on another day after school. If you have forgotten to book a time you can see Michele in the office.
Well that is all from me today, I am off to play some footy with Year 1!
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Gastroenteritis
There have been a few cases of Gastro at school recently, please see below for information from Health Department.
Gastroenteritis is a common and often highly infectious condition that affects your gut (the stomach and intestines). It is also known as ‘gastro’ and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach pain and nausea.
Infectious gastro can be spread very easily. You might get it from having contact with an infected person.
It’s important to stay home, away from school or childcare, until 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea.
Winter Sports
On Thursday August 20 the Year 6’s and some selected Year 5’s from Holy Rosary competed in a Winter Sports Carnival against Our Lady of Grace, Aranmore and St Kieran in football, netball and soccer at Kingsway Reserve.
The weather was fine and the competition fierce but fare across the board with all our teams having a fabulous day in their chosen sport.
I would like to thank Mr D’ Aloia, Nathan Butson, Abbey Tankard and Sue Harvey for training our soccer, football and netball teams. I would also like to thank our wonderful Year 6 teachers and staff that helped make the day a success, especially Mr Thuijs who was a magnificent football umpire.
All of your efforts made the day possible and gave our children some wonderful memories.
Next stop is our Athletics Carnival on September 18, so if you are able to help on the day I would love to hear from you.

LIBRARY NEWS
BOOK WEEK 2020 – Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.
Nationally, Book Week has been postponed until October and at HR we are so excited that it is still happening!! Week 2, term 4 is Book Week with our Book Week Parade being held in the gym on Thursday 22nd October at 9am. Please note the change of day – this is so our kindy’s can participate and also to not further delay our class assemblies. Students are encouraged to dress as their favourite book character using items they have at home. It is a super fun day and we are really looking forward to it, so start thinking about those costume ideas!

ALPHA, hosted by some of the parents of Holy Rosary School, is starting Tuesday nights from 1st September at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish (17 Angelico St, Woodlands), from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, including dinner(!).
Looking forward to seeing you there.

UFO Craft Group
Busy hands have been very creative with many rugs being completed, We have also had to seek new ways to get the finished items to those most in need. Cathy from St Vincent de Paul Migrant and Refugees came to our meeting on 26th Aug to tell us how many refugees are struggling in a new country with language, obtaining work and the daily needs of food and shelter. We were able to give her nine rugs with more in the pipeline. Seven of these which came from Carmel will warm and cheer the recipients. Another five knee rugs from Pam will be wrapped this week ready for a new home.
Another avenue we have established is Shop front which is a meeting place for the homeless.
So keep up the good work and we will find a placement for the item. We next meet on Wed 9th Sept in the Community Centre at 9.30 t0 11.30am
Mothers prayers
For the month of Sept we meet a Mavis Home 1.30-2.30pm with a cuppa to follow. See notice board for details.
