Fall Sports Updates from Our Coaches
Field Hockey
Stone Bridge Varsity Field Hockey came in 1-1 this week. The week opened with a 3-1 win against Potomac Falls in which Bella Rehermann opened the scoring with a sweet sweep in from the left post, followed by an inspired reverse chip by Norah Otto. Pot Falls came back and scored, but Stone Bridge quickly answered with another goal muscled in by Avery Moon to seal the victory. In Thursday's game against Riverside, Stone Bridge put up a good fight, including another goal by Bella Rehermann and some incredible saves by goalie Charly Burns, but in the end were overtaken by a formidable opponent 9-1.
Cross Country
George Alexander led the boys team to victory with his first place finish at our first meet. Kaia Woolfe won her first race as a Bulldog.
Volleyball
Varsity went 1-2 for the week, losing to Potomac Falls and Riverside, but defeating Briar Woods in a 5 set thriller. Freshman Volleyball went 0-3 and JV volleyball went 1-2.
Golf
The Stone Bridge Bulldog golfers lost their third match of the season this afternoon on the front nine of our home course, Belmont Country Club. The score was Stone Bridge 174 to Freedom 165. Stone Bridge scored as follows: Freshman Will Layton shot 42; junior Gautham Bai Reddy shot 42; freshman Alisha Gupta shot 43 and junior Matthew Clark shot 47. Also playing for Stone Bridge, were senior Kieran Modhera who shot 48 and freshman Jennifer Osborne who shot 49. Playing as alternates for Stone Bridge, Michael Miranda shot 39 and Dan Heishman shot 48. Stone Bridge now has two wins and one loss for the season. Our next match will be against Riverside High School on March 25th.
Football
Varsity Football defeated Briar Woods last Friday 56-29. The Bulldogs were led on offense by Billy Wiles who threw 2 touch downs and ran for 1, Eli Mason who rushed for 4 touchdowns and 148 yards, DJ Cobbs who caught 7 passes for 102 yards, and Marshall Mattison who caught 2 touchdowns. Our tough Bulldog defense was led by Kandler Martin who lived in the Falcon backfield and recorded 3 sacks.

Equity in Education Month
In an effort to encourage equity in education, the VSBA Board of Directors has designated the month of March as VSBA Equity in Education Month. Equity in education is a significant challenge nationwide. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in 2017 the majority of public-school students were students of color, and more than half of public school students qualify for subsidized meals due to low family income. Public education has struggled to serve these students both adequately and equitably. When inequity in education persists, there is a cost to all involved including missed opportunities for economic development, greater dependence on government supports, and fewer Americans ready to serve and lead. The Loudoun County School Board has also recognized March as Equity in Education Month.

SBHS Library Updates
The library is excited to see some students in-person! Welcome back! If you are returning to the building, please drop off any books you may have from the spring or from this year that are now overdue. There are never fines for overdue books!
Students can always use our catalog to place a hold, our book request form on our website, or email a librarian for assistance in getting materials you need or want. Requested materials are in the main hallway for DL students to pick up; hybrid students can pick up materials from the circulation desk; we will set up an e-hall pass for you.
Office hours continue during the lunch block at SBLIB.
