Trussville Methodist Kids HAVE Talent!
Jesus Is Put on Trial Matthew 27:15-31; Mark 15:6-15; Luke 23:1-25; John 18:28–19:16
“He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care”
(Isaiah 53:3).
Jesus is put on trial before Pilate, the Roman governor. Pilate bows to pressure when the crowd chants “Crucify him!” Soldiers mock Jesus by putting a scarlet robe and a crown of thorns on him. They hit him and spit on him. Because he suffered, Jesus understands suffering.
Family Together Time
Try this fun experiment as a family.
- Fill a resealable plastic bag with water, and seal it tightly.
- Take turns sticking sharp pencils through the bag, naming a way you’ve suffered as you do.
- Even though you’ve made many holes in the bag, the water should stay in the bag as long as the pencils aren’t removed.
- Talk about the way Jesus endured suffering for us. How is that like what happened to the bag?
- Talk about how it can help knowing that Jesus understands your suffering.
Talk About This…What’s something tough in your life right now?
