Charger Check-In
September 30, 2021
A Note from Ms. Owens
This Tuesday, our students were extra spiffy wearing shirts and ties, fun dresses, crisp polos and favorite shirts as we had Picture Day. It was fun day and a change of pace. We had big smiles and good conversations about who picked out their outfits and how much they love a certain piece of clothing.
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Pediatric Cancer Awareness Dress Down Day at St. Catherine. Because of your generosity and support, we are sending $614 to the Finley Forever Foundation. If you'd like to learn more about this organization, you can click on the button below.
Walk-A-Thon Shirt Pick Up will be Tuesday, October 5 from 4-7 PM in the church vestibule. We will also be distributing SCA Lawn Signs. (You don't need to have ordered a Walk-A-Thon t-shirt to pick up a lawn sign!) Please remember that masks are required when entering the church vestibule.
This month, our Early Dismissal Wednesday is October 13. Our students will dismiss at 1PM and extended care will be available.
Internet safety and good digital citizenship are important parts of 21st century education, and St. Catherine is helping our students develop these good habits. Please see information further down in the Check-In regarding tools your family can use to discuss these topics with your children.

Digital Citizenship at SCA
In Computer classes during the first few weeks of school, all the students in grades K-8 have been learning about Internet Safety and how to be good Digital Citizens. The Archdiocese of Chicago is a certified school district, and we are working on becoming a certified school again this year.
Along with the other schools in the Archdiocese, we are using the Common Sense Media curriculum. They have a lot of information on their website for parents (see button below). It is not easy to keep up with our digital children in this ever-changing and fast-moving digital world. This website provides a lot of guidance to assist parents.
Below is a Family Media Agreement provided by Common Sense Media. Consider using this agreement as a way to open a discussion with your children regarding their use of technology, and to reinforce the importance of staying safe while they are online.
Miss Soch has posted Family Tip Sheets on her webpage. We have also provided the link to the Common Sense website on our school website under “Useful Links”. Please keep the conversation going at home that we have started in school.
