Principal's Message

Dear Hallinan Families,

I am excited to see your children in our HAL Hangout sessions tomorrow, November 13. K-2 will meet from 11:30 am to 12 pm, and 3-5 will meet from 12 to 12:30 pm. Students are encouraged to bring their lunch and eat while we learn more about each other. Zoom meeting invitations were sent on Tuesday, November 10, to parent and 3rd-5th grade student email addresses. If you did not receive a zoom link, please let Lee Gates know (gatesl@loswego.k12.or.us).

Beginning Monday, November 16, Music and PE schedules will model your child's STEM routine in that they will have one synchronous (live) and one asynchronous (non-live) day each week. Music and PE classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will be synchronous and Music and PE classes on Mondays and Fridays will be asynchronous. All asynchronous classes on Monday and Fridays will be posted online by 8 am. STEM classes will remain the same. K-2 asynchronous lessons will be posted on SeeSaw and 3-5 will be posted on Google Classroom. Here's a link to the Specials Schedule. Thank you for your support and flexibility as we continue to navigate online learning.

As I visit classes, it brings me great joy to see student and teacher engagement. Kindness challenges, directed drawing activities, choice boards, rose and thorns, virtual field trips and scavenger hunts keep lessons interesting and students challenged.

8:00-8:30: Synchronous AM Cohort English Language Arts structured connection and review

8:35-9:05: Synchronous AM Cohort Math structured connection and review

12:45-1:15: Synchronous PM Cohort English Language Arts structured connection and review

1:20-1:50: Synchronous PM Cohort Math structured connection and review

Elementary Student Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Schedule

8:00-10:45 a.m.: Synchronous AM Cohort English Language Arts & Math

12:45-3:30 p.m.: Synchronous PM Cohort English Language Arts & Math

Multi-synchronous Wednesdays will allow students time to have structured connection and review with their teachers, practice skills and receive reteaching with teachers and support staff and build relationships with their peers. This change is intended to provide additional support, reduce screen stress and allow catch up time. Participation is expected and attendance will be taken as usual. Hallinan Cookbook - UPDATE!

The Hallinan cookbook is still a work in progress and we appreciate your submissions. We will be extending the deadline and hope you will continue to cook and bake at home with your little loved ones! Please submit your inspirations to Jessie Harbison at jessamyn2007@gmail.com. Our goal is to put together a finished product complete with all the love and creativity that makes Hallinan the special place it is.

Grab-and-Go Meals

Next Thursday (11/19/20) the grab-and-go meal sack will include 7 days of breakfasts and lunches. There will be no grab-and-go meals on Monday 11/23/20 or Thursday 11/26/20. Regular grab-and-go meal distribution (Mon/Thurs) will resume on Monday 11/30/20.

Mrs Landau is working hard to stock the Library shelves so that we will be able to offer book check out soon. We'll send out details in the next few weeks. In the photo below, I am standing on the new ramp, looking into the Library from one of the eight new portholes. I love the way the school is looking and we can't wait to welcome you all back.

Please remember that Hallinan is a closed campus and only staff and construction crew are allowed onsite - inside and outside. We appreciate your cooperation.
