Application for KSDE's ESOL Educators MIDTESOL Professional Learning Program
Are you passionate about English Learners in Kansas?
Are you looking to grow professionally?
Do you love sharing information with other educators like yourself?
Are you interested in attending #MIDTESOL19?
If you answered YES, to all four of these questions, then this might be the opportunity for YOU!
KSDE believes in English Learners in Kansas and is passionate about the educators that serve this rapidly growing population. KSDE is seeking ESOL educators to participate in a program to develop ESOL professional learning experts in Kansas. In an effort to strengthen and build capacity within Kansas ESOL educators, KSDE is seeking to send eight (8) ESOL educators ( 2 elementary, 2 middle school, 2 high school, 2 paraprofessionals) to #MIDTESOL19 on September 27-28, 2019 in Omaha, Nebraska! The reason for supporting professional learning at #MIDTESOL19 would be to bring back the learning from this conference to support our colleagues in Kansas. If you are interested in this opportunity, KSDE would request that you thoroughly read through the program requirements and submit your application by May 24, 2019!

Culturally Responsive Teaching Seminar
Zaretta Hammond, author of Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain, will be in Topeka June 3 for a day-long seminar to explore and deepen skills surrounding culturally responsive instruction (across all disciplines).
These strategies are highly recommended because of its student-centered approach to teaching in which students’ unique cultural strengths are identified and nurtured to promote student achievement and sense of well-being. This is a great way to work towards so many aspects of the Kansas Vision for Education.
