Cool tool for the classroom
Kahoot
Kahoot allows teachers to run game-like answer quizzes in real time. Teachers (as well as students) can either create their own quizzes or find, use, and/or remix public quizzes. Questions, along with answer choices, are projected onto a classroom screen while students submit responses using a technology (likely mobile) device.
Questions and polls can contain images and video to help further appeal to all learners. Students' devices display color and symbol choices only; the actual answers must be viewed on the classroom screen. The energized, game-like atmosphere comes from the use of bright colors and suspenseful music. Liveliness in the game or quiz escalates as updated ranks appear on the class scoreboard after each question; personal points data is sent to each device. The Team Mode mixes things up and allows groups of students to cooperate with each other and compete against other teams.
Results are saved to your account if you are logged on/hosted the Kahoot while logged on to your account. Results can also be exported to a spreadsheet or uploaded to your Google Drive. It even includes mathematical symbols in its text editor.
Teachers can create their own assessments or search for previously created assessments. Any assessment can be shared with others if desired. Once a teacher is logged on to Kahoot, go to the ‘find Kahoots’ menu option at the top to find Kahoots to view or duplicate for your own editing.
Kahoot is also a great tool for student led learning. Students can be given assignments or tasks to create their own Kahoots individually or as groups and then the class can play the student created Kahoots.
There are two web site addresses depending if you are creating or playing a Kahoot:
Create a Kahoot web site https://create.kahoot.it/
Play a Kahoot web site - https://kahoot.it
Available on: Any device via web site, IOS app, Android app
Updates: Kahoot just recently changed their searching fiters. Click here to see a Smore about the update.
Considerations: Any student can play a Kahoot without an account. A free account is required for students to create their own Kahoot. Kahoot does not store or share any data on students. Under age 16 accounts do not allow sharing or browsing of public content for extra protection.
