Wakeland Color Guard
Congratulations to our cast on a magnificent first public performance, and a huge thank you to our many parents and guardians who helped with volunteering efforts; chaperones, food crew, hair stylists, concessions, field crew, uniform cleaning - you are dearly appreciated!
This week, we have class Tuesday and Thursday from 1:20pm to 2:20pm (location TBA). Our weekly rehearsals will take place on Monday evening (6pm to 9pm), Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning (7am to 8:30am), and a Saturday morning rehearsal (8am to 12pm). The What-A-Burger Spirit Night is this Thursday, September 6th from 5pm to 8pm!
Our football game against JJ Pearce is this Friday. We will begin another of our fun traditions this week: Fancy Friday. Guard students are encouraged to dress up on Game Days (usually Friday's, although we have a few Game Day's on Thursday's). Ladies usually wear a nice dress, blouse, skirt, and gentlemen a polo and nice jeans/slacks. Think more "Sunday's Best" than prom dress, business attire, etc!
Looking forward, next week is full of events. We have our band pictures (group and individual) next Wednesday (09/12) from 5pm to 8pm in full uniform (hair can individual style but must appear groomed, jazz shoes are needed). We have a Thursday night football game (09/13) against McKinney North at the Ford Center at the Star (only clear bags admitted into the stadium).
Keep in mind that progress reports are distributed soon! We need a 100% pass rate from all of our Color Guard members. Communicate with your teachers sooner rather than later, and take advantage of your advisory time for additional instruction time!
Remember that those who are not in good standing on Friday, September 21st cannot perform at Three Football Games (including Homecoming), FISD Band Night, HEB Marching Contest, FISD Band Night, and Bands of America Dallas.
Lastly, I have created individual lesson sign-ups for Joye, Crystal, and Jailin! Those can be found on the front page of the Wakeland Color Guard Website.

Private Lessons
Private lessons may take place before school, during class, or after school. We are very fortunate to have an experienced lessons staff in the WHS Cluster. Lessons are given once-a-week for roughly thirty minutes at a time.
Rates for lessons at Wakeland High School are $21 per lesson. The private lessons staff schedules fill up fast, so you will want to sign up early.
Reach out directly to our lessons staff to set your lessons time or to ask specific lessons questions.
