FIELD DAY 2023
FRIDAY, JUNE 2ND
Hello GES Families,
We are excited for Field Day tomorrow! Ms. Potash, Mrs. McGill, and the staff have everything ready to go. It's sure to be a great day for the students!
In order to make the event a success, the staff and I will be promoting fair, safe, and fun activities. The students will be outside for the majority of the day. It looks like it is going to be very hot so please ensure that your child comes to school with a water bottle to ensure they stay hydrated. Water stations will also be available outside
I am looking forward to seeing our students decked out in their team colors. As in past years, many students like to have their shirts autographed by their classmates. The students will have the opportunity to do this before going outside. If you and your child(ren), do not wish to have his/her shirt signed, please have that conversation with them prior to the school day. The students will not be permitted to sign each other’s arms or skin.
We are looking forward to a great day!

FAMILY GUIDE TO GOODNOE'S FIELD DAY!
NEED TO KNOW!
I would like to pass along a few items to note for our upcoming Field Day event:
Our Field Day is scheduled for Friday, June 2nd (Rain date: Tuesday, June 6th). The day will begin at the regular school start time. Opening ceremony activities will commence at 9:25 a.m. Students will then proceed to their first activity on the fields/gym.
All volunteers assisting at the event are required to sign in at the office. Volunteers will receive a badge to wear. If you are visiting as a spectator you can just proceed to the field areas; you do not need to sign in at the office.
If your child purchased a Field Day shirt they will be distributed on Wednesday, May 31st.
Parking will be tight. Please do not park in the car rider circle directly in front of the building as we have midday student pick-ups. Also, there will be no parking on the blacktop recess area by the gym entrance. Parking suggestions: Andrew Drive or the grass/driveway area across the street.
Volunteers only may use the bathrooms by the gym/library area. The entrance to use these bathrooms will be by the 6th grade hallway entrance (back by the gym). There will be a staff member stationed at this door to let you into the building. Volunteers are not permitted to visit any other part of the building.
The only Field Day activity that is inside the building is the bowling activity. Parents are welcome to watch but space will be limited. Parents are not permitted to enter any other part of the building.
Students will be outside for the majority of the day. Wearing appropriate clothing and drinking plenty of water will enhance each child's safety and enjoyment. Shorts, socks, and sneakers that tie (no crocs, slides, etc.) are considered appropriate clothing for Field Day. Students should bring a water bottle labeled with their names to make sure they are staying hydrated. Water stations will be set up outside. Wearing sunscreen and/or a hat is encouraged.
This is a reminder that dogs are not permitted on school grounds.
If parents wish to take their child home at the conclusion of Field Day, please go to the Main Office to sign your child out.
Closing ceremonies will be held in the gym and will be for students and staff only due to space limitations.
Spectators are encouraged to reinforce the expectations of the day for fun, movement and demonstration of outstanding sportsmanship - we are all 1 school, Blue & Gray!
