Math Workshop Model

Prestwick is committed to high quality instruction in all subject areas. In the area of Math and English Language Arts we strive to uphold a research based workshop model. This model affords facilitators (teachers) the opportunity to work with students in smaller guided groups so that they can effectively monitor progress, observe student strategies and target instruction to the the needs of the learners.

What do other learners do when they are not working with the teacher in guided groups? This is a great question! Students not working at the teacher station work on other important skills in other stations. They often rotate among these multiple stations to complete tasks that will promote their success in Math. Tasks may be independent, paired, small group or a combination of all of these.

Learners report they enjoy the chance to ask the teacher questions in a smaller group and having a variety of activities makes it more fun to learn.

Missing a jacket, sweater, pants, etc.?

Please stop by and check our lost and found items this week! We have a very large amount of clothing that needs to find its way home. Items not picked up will be donated at the break to an agency that serves families in need.
