Mark's Monday Morning Memo
December 18, 2017
Congratulation, Again, Justin!
Justin was among 76 teachers from 39 districts to be recognized with the TIES Exceptional Teacher honor last week at the TIES 2017 Education Technology Conference. I was honored to be in the audience and was able to snap this photo as Justin was on stage to receive his honor. Congratulations, Justin!
Environmental Education Grant
Congratulations to our 5th grade team, Lisa and Vanessa. On Thursday they learned they received a grant they wrote and applied for from the Minnesota Department of Education for $10,470 that will allow all grade 5th graders to attend Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center February 28-March 2, 2018. What a wonderful opportunity this will be for our 5th graders. Congratulations, Lisa and Vanessa!
Walkie Talkie Practices
Please remember the walkie talkies were given to all classroom teachers for the purpose of communicating with the office if and when classes were going to be outside. Because of confidentiality and privacy reasons, please use the phone to call the office for student support and the office staff will contact a support person. If your phone call is unanswered and you need immediate support, you may use the walkie talkie. Thank you for your support with this.
November Citizens of the Month
Thank you to teachers for identifying your November Citizen of the Month. It is so much fun taking the students' photos, reading about why they were selected, and recognizing them during the celebration. Family members are so appreciative of this recognition so thank you for taking your time to select your Citizens of the Month.
Thank you!
Thank you to Mr. Ike for hosting the holiday staff get-together and to Becky for organizing the event. The background photo shows Mr. Ike's grilling skills and the results were delicious!
Expectations
The Gatewood Behavior Expectations posters have been completed and there are eight identified areas (up from seven as we separated Media Center and Computer Lab). Kristi is printing sets for all classroom teachers and she will have sets available for any specialist who wants those. We'll be posting the updated posters around school and thanks to Vanessa and Heather, we have a plan for reviewing expectations and areas when we return from winter break.
