Counselors Message

The month of November makes us all think of things like friendship and gratitude. When creating and maintaining relationships with others, using friendship skills and showing gratitude can help us have strong connections.

An important connection to our personal, social, academic and career success is knowing the people who support us, or where we can go for help. We'll be talking about people who can support us in classroom guidance lessons.

It's also important to be connected to or in tune with ourselves through self-awareness.
Some examples of self-awareness are:

*Knowing what pushes our buttons
*Knowing ways to calm ourselves down
*Being aware of what skills work for us

Please take a minute to fill out this form and we will be in contact soon!

To Fidget or Not to Fidget?

If you've been on campus lately, you've likely seen an array of fidget tools amongst the students. From stress balls to simpl dimpls, our kiddos are enjoying the variety of fidget tools out there.

Fidget tools, sometimes referred to as sensory tools or fidget toys, are designed to help with self-regulation. Fidgets come in a variety of formats and have been shown to help students focus, relax, and maintain attention to instruction.

Sometimes, though, fidget tools can be confused with being fidget toys. If your student benefits from fidget tools, we encourage you to have conversations with them about the difference between a tool and a toy.

Take a look at the infographic below for conversation support.
