LETTER FROM DR. WALDRIP

Dear PTA Members,

I’ll cut right to the chase. Are you registered to vote? Are your neighbors and coworkers registered? If unsure, check your registration status on the Texas Secretary of State’s “Am I

Registered?” webpage.

Everyone must register by Thursday, April 6 to vote in the upcoming May 6 Frisco ISD Board

Elections.

You’ll find candidate political signs throughout our community at each open space and field. On social media, several people are sharing their perspectives about candidates, but all of us need to do our own research.

Luckily, there are several opportunities coming up, including the Frisco Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum that will be held Thursday, April 13, 6-8 p.m. at Grace Church in Frisco Square, thanks to the partnership of the Frisco ISD Council of PTAs.

The Islamic Center of Frisco recently held a candidate forum that was recorded and is available online.

The district does not take positions on candidates, but we are committed to creating and supporting a culture of voting within our community. In turn, I want to ensure you also have some key voting information at your fingertips.

Soon, like you, we’ll be able to wear that “I Voted” sticker with pride!

LETTER FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT

Hello Frisco ISD Families!

The end of the school year is fast approaching and that brings SO many activities in these last few weeks. We are excited to see the celebrations and awards that many of you will achieve!

Membership continues to be a shining star! We continue to see a district increase and are creeping closer to our 30,000 goal. We have 41 campuses with an increase over last year and 20 PTAs need fewer than 50 members to increase as well!! Such a great goal to achieve in this legislative year.

We had a great time in Austin at the end of February for PTA Rally Day. The most inspiring part was watching our FISD students interact with the State Representatives to ask thoughtful and meaningful questions. It is proof that our work is important! I hope all of you will get out to vote during the upcoming School Board elections and again in November. Your voice makes a difference in the lives of our students!

Council has a jam-packed Spring as we know all of our campuses do!! On April 21st, Council will honor the PTA FEF Scholarship winners and PTA Lifetime Award Recipients at our PTA Night at the Frisco RoughRiders. We hope that you will purchase tickets to help us continue our scholarship program and support us as we honor these students during the game. The next week brings our annual PTA Lifetime Award Ceremony on April 27th at Reedy HS. It’s a busy, fun-filled month!

PTA elections are happening all over and we need you to attend our Summer Prep Training on May 3rd at Trent Middle School. If you are a PTA Leader, we want you there!! It’s a great time to share ideas and refresh your knowledge on PTA policies and procedures!! We will have snacks too!!

As the flowers bloom and the temperatures stay warmer, I am looking forward to seeing all the growth in your PTA! Thanks for all you do!

Yours truly,

Terri Palmer, President
