A small group ministry of the Rock Church and World Outreach Center

Next week we will be hearing from Dr. Cono on movement and Dr. Richard Kangah regarding balance. For this week you have a lot of optional homework- we would really like you to do your food story primarily. Then you have a healthy habits inventory in the appendix as well as a nourishment report card. We hope that you have chosen a goal to do for the week! If you have any questions please email us at

Vegan Lentil Chili

I like this recipe because it's affordable and healthy! My kids enjoy it and it has a lot of foods in it that are considered "longevity foods". This recipe is very versatile. You can put everything into a crock pot, or into one pot and make it all at once, or as this recipe states.

1 bag of lentils

1-2 sweet potatoes

2 T. olive oil

2 t. cinnamon

1/2 t. of nutmeg

1 t. chili powder

1.5 t cumin

2 32 oz containers of vegetable broth (try to find broth without MSG)

1.5 cups of water

3 carrots chopped

1/2 onion chopped

1 32 oz can of diced tomatoes (I had the Italian diced tomatoes but you can use either)

2 cloves of garlic.

1 cup of kale (optional)

We garnish with cilantro, and add hot sauce.

1. Put lentils, broth, water and tomatoes into a pot and boil, then bring down to simmer to soften lentils

2. In another pan, sautee olive oil and garlic for 1 minute. Add chopped onion and sweet potatoes and all spices. Cook for 5-10 minutes.

3. Add sweet potato mixture to lentils with carrots and kale

4. Simmer until fully cooked- should be 20-30 minutes.

Sharing a little of Jaime's testimony below

From the end of the earth, I will call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalm 61:2
