Blaze Bulletin - 6
Edition 6 - Week of September 22nd
Reflections of Homecoming!
Last week was a wonderful homecoming week – the best I’ve ever been associated with. Thanks to stellar planning (Justin Smith and others), teacher involvement (all of you!), and our great students, Blackman High can offer such incredible opportunities like these for our kids - opportunities that many other schools would never even dream of! I met with a parent Friday night at the football game who moved here from another state. She was so impressed with the welcome her daughter has received at Blackman (they loved the 1st day of school pep rally!). She also talked about how much days like last Friday help students build friendships, camaraderie with classmates, and fond memories of high school that will last a lifetime. This mother of a 10th grader was so thankful for Blackman High. So, you should know that your efforts are recognized and appreciated!

We are projecting that we will need 329 mentors to serve the TN Promise applicants in Rutherford County. Currently, we have 96 mentors registered to participate, meaning we still need 233 more!

PSAT Registration
The October 15th PSAT registration is now open. Students may register and pay in the counseling office until the deadline of September 26th. The cost of the test is $17.00 and it will take place in the auditorium.
ACCREDITATION SURVEY
On Tuesday, September 23rd, all students will need to take an online survey during primetime for AdvancED (SACS). It takes about 10 minutes to answer the 39 questions. The survey link is http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/9182353. Students can use their smart phone or classroom computers to complete the survey. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Hunter or Mr. Reed.
Thank you!

Celebrate My Drive is coming......
Just imagine what BHS could do with $100,000 or even $25,000!?! What could your club, sport, activity, classroom do with a portion of that kind of money!?
Now, imagine that in receiving that amount of money, we also promote and celebrate students who make safe and positive choices as they start driving!
Finally, imagine that Wilson Central (yes, right next door) won the $100,000 last year. It CAN happen here.
Celebrate My Drive is coming…..stay tuned for details……it’s a win-win. Let’s do it!!
Student IDs
Student IDs will be distributed Monday 9/22 through Wednesday 9/24 outside the cafeteria during all three lunches. Please inform students that they will need to stop by the tables to obtain their ID and should keep their ID on them (wallet, purse, pocket) at all times while on campus. Thank you
Beth StoneReplayIt!
The Blackman Yearbook staff will be launching a new app called ReplayIt. The app allows the students to upload pictures to the website that could possibly be included in the yearbook. It will allow them to be a part of the coverage and give the yearbook staff a wide range of picture choices. The launch will occur Monday, September 22nd during Primetime. The ReplayIt launch cards including the QR code and ReplayIt website information should have been delivered to your classroom Friday during Primetime by a yearbook staff member. Please turn on your television at the beginning of Primetime for an informational video to help the students with the launch. In order for this to be successful, they will need to use their cell phones to download the app, explore the options, and upload pictures. Your cooperation is much appreciated in making this launch successful and exciting for the students. Thank you

SMART STEPS RANDOM DRAWING
Please join me in congratulating, Michelle Giacobbi! She won the Smart Steps random drawing for an iPad Air. She was one of 1846 people to take her 10 minute Zensey health assessment online at www.mycigna.com Don’t forget to complete this through Cigna before November 30, 2014. To avoid a $30 increase on your monthly insurance premium, both the employee and spouse who participate with the Rutherford County insurance must complete the online health assessment. Those who complete the assessment will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win one of four iPad Airs (16 GB).
