Gulf Elementary School

May 2017

Dear Parents,

As the school year comes to an end, we would like to thank all of our parents, former teachers, and community members who volunteered at our school this year. It really does take a village to raise a child and we appreciate your support. We would also like to acknowledge and thank our talented teaching staff. It is evident on a daily basis that our students are surrounded by people who genuinely care about them. They continue to keep expectations high for themselves and our students. Our students understand the message that education is important and they need to work hard in order to be successful. They know they will be supported and challenged by their teachers. Our teachers never look for praise, but their efforts certainly warrant recognition. We just want to express our gratitude for their contribution that they make every single day to our kids.

Have a safe and restful summer,

Mrs. Verblaauw & Mrs. Grecsek

Summer Slide

When summer break comes the formal learning process often ends and many students begin to show learning losses. At Gulf Elementary we have several strategies for stopping the summer slide. Students can access COMPASS and Sum Dog, as well as Reading Programs provided by our local Public Libraries. All COMPASS paths have been updated to your child's next grade. Programs can be accessed from our school website. We will recognize students who complete the most activities on COMPASS and Sum Dog in September.
