Second Grade News
Week 12 - November 6-10
English Language Arts
This week’s reading will be Stone Soup. During reading we will continue making text-to-self and text-to-world connections. We will also describe the main characters in the text, including their traits, motivations and feelings. Finally we will practice writing sentences that have appropriate capitalization, punctuation and detail.
This week’s spelling words are all verbs that end with -ed or -ing. When a root word has a short vowel followed by a consonant, you usually double the final consonant before adding -ed or -ing.
Examples:
step+p+ing+=stepping
flip+p+ed=flipped
