School Safety/Title IV update
May 2020
The end of an interesting year...
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on making it to the end of a very challenging time in education. The leadership that you provided for your students, staff and parents was amazing to say the least. You took charge in leading the way through one of the most challenging times we have faced in education without much notice. You had to make some difficult decisions and adapt to changing guidelines. You worked longer hours and received more updates than you could ever imagine. There are things you learned about your school along the way such as how resilient and dedicated your staff can be, the importance of technology, meeting student needs in a new format, and especially the ability to adapt and change on a moment's notice. THANK YOU all for everything you have done and for everything you still have ahead as we adjust to new challenges COVID-19 has brought us.

Texas School Safety Center COVID-19 FAQ
TxSSC has created this Frequently Asked Questions webpage to address topics specific to the Center and it will be updated as needed. We encourage school districts to email your questions to txssc@txstate.edu.

Virtual training opportunities include school threat assessment (a great opportunity to get your entire team trained) and digital threat assessment.
There are also new virtual training opportunities on creating or updating your Emergency Operations Plan and School Security and Safety Audits which may be useful in helping you complete the DAR template that Dana sent you earlier this month.
I will be happy to help you with any questions about submissions before November 15th.
Title IV, Part A School Safety State Initiative
Rod Pruitt & Nancy Galle from Region 14 have done an exceptional job taking over the Title IV school safety initiative and providing all of our ESC centers with updates and resources. I am working with them to bring the latest updates, resources and training opportunities to our region in the upcoming year.
