Newsletter Week 5 Term 1
Rotherham School 1 March 2023
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
It was great to have such fantastic support at our recent parents information afternoon where we shared how our school and classrooms are organised and remember if you have any questions please visit our website or ask a staff member. For those who could not make it I have emailed all parents the 3 slideshows that we presented so you know what was covered.
Thank you to all those who came along to watch our swimming sports yesterday afternoon in the lovely sunshine! What a fantastic turn out of parents and supporters and thank you to all those parents who swam in the fun parents and students relays, that race is always a lot of fun! It was great that we had lane ropes and flags this year so thank you Gemma Chick for organising these. Also a big thank you to our 3 judges Tracey Topp, Meg Macfarlane and Ginny Macfarlane who gave up their time to judge our Popplewell Cup competitors. It is always a hard job and it was very close this year. We would also like to acknowledge Libby Ryan and all the volunteers who are part of the Rotherham Community Pool Committee and do an excellent job at keeping the pool looking crystal clear and warm for us everyday. We are grateful to be able to use this fantastic pool.
Congratulations to the 9 swimmers who I will be taking to Hurunui Swimming Sports on Monday in Hanmer. Well done to Emma Hayward, Leo Chick, Brody Clark, Lotte Thomas, Macey Jopp, Gussie Dampier-Crossley, Emily Colombus, Paige Jopp and Akeila McIntyre. Good luck to all those competing.
The corn fundraiser will be underway this week at the Amuri Show and thank you to all those who are helping out picking and packing corn and working on the stall at the show. Just remember all of our students benefit from this fundraiser with the amazing trips and camps we go on, swimming lessons, access to Chromebooks and iPads, Health learning resources and so much more. We do appreciate all of your support and help but we do require ALL parents to contribute in some way to this fundraiser.
