NWEA MAP Testing
Students participating in their second NWEA MAP assessment between January 13th and January 21st. These digital tests measure individual student growth in science, math, reading, and writing. Additionally, it provides information regarding each child's national rank in content mastery.
Harmony Public Schools use this data to determine gaps in content mastery, create tutorial/intervention groups, and evaluate each student's readiness for grade promotion in the 2020-2021 school year.
Please use the included link to visit the NWEA MAP site and learn more about how this assessment.
Parents / Guardians will receive a mailed report of this information once testing has been completed. Please support your child as he participates in this evaluation by ensuring that he/she has a good night's rest and eats a nutritious breakfast each morning.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients program is working with thousands of schools across the country to raise funds for blood cancer research and patient support services. Our school has partnered with LLS to take on the mission of ending cancer once and for all.
YOU can help our Squad make a huge impact in the fight against cancer by making a contribution to our fundraising efforts! Please see Ms. Benning for any questions about the HSE donation campaign.
Thank you for your support!
HSE offers free tutorials on Saturdays from 8:30 am- 12:00 pm. These sessions provide support to students who did not demonstrate content mastery on last year's STAAR exams. If your child receives a Saturday School Tutorial Notice in the mail, he/she did not pass last year's STAAR exam(s), and he/she is strongly encouraged to attend these sessions. If your child receives a notice and there is a weekend when he/she cannot attend, please provide a written excuse to Ms. Rosenberg by the following Monday.
Upcoming Saturday School dates are January 25th, February 1st, February 8th, February 22nd, February 29th, March 7th, March 28th, April 4th, April 18th, April 25th, and May 2nd.
Thank you for your investment in your child's education. Please contact Jenny Rosenberg at email@example.com for Middle School students and Mr. Tunc at firstname.lastname@example.org for High School students with any questions or concerns.
8th Grade TSI ELA/Writing
On February 3rd, your 8th-grade student will take the TSI test, in both writing and reading. This is an amazing opportunity for our students. If students pass this test, they become eligible to take dual-credit courses in high school. Receiving enough dual-credit courses in high school would lead to a student receiving an Associate’s Degree for free.
There are a lot of online resources that your child can use to practice at home. Your child’s ELA teacher will be sending home TSI practice problems for reading and writing for homework. Here are some websites that provide more information about TSI, and also have practice problems: https://www.tsipracticetest.com/ https://www.tsipracticetest.com/tsi-reading-practice-test/ https://www.tsipracticetest.com/tsi-writing-practice-test/ https://www.tsipracticetest.com/tsi-essay-guide/ Please discuss this amazing opportunity with your child, and let me know if you have any further questions.
Gracias, Jenny Rosenberg JRosenberg@harmonytx.org
