District Courts
District Courts have original jurisdiction so they are the first to hear a case in the U.S court system. District courts deal with both civil and criminal cases. Also they are the only U.,S court that use witnesses and juries.
Court of appeals
Appeals courts review decisions made in district courts and the area that they cover is called a circuit. There are 13 court of appeals with 1 of them having nationwide jurisdiction.
U.S Supreme court
The supreme court reigns supreme over all other U.S courts. It does not receive many cases and has the power to declare a law unconstitutional. No other U.S court can argue with its decisions.
Judges
All federal Judges are nominated by the president and approved by the Senate. Also Judges Serve for life unless they decide to retire or they can be removed through impeachment.
