Volunteer Spotlight: Danielle Twohy
How or where do you like to volunteer?
When my kids were younger I loved volunteering in their classrooms. Now that they are older, I primarily help in the library which I love!
Why did you decide to volunteer at Centerville?
I greatly enjoy helping out with whatever I can at school. It’s fun to get to know my kid’s classmates and I think parent involvement is important to the success of schools, plus I really enjoy it!
What is your favorite part about volunteering?
I love seeing the kids. They are still at an age where they are excited to be at school and it's fun to be a part of that.

Don’t forget about reading when making family New Year’s resolutions
After your elementary schooler finishes a book, ask for a written review. Your child should include the title of the book and its author, along with personal opinions about it.
Offer sentence starters to help your child with reviews, such as:
• I really liked this book because … .
• My favorite part of this story was … .
• I wish the author would have … .
Help your child compile the reviews into a Book Reviews notebook. The growing number of reviews will provide a sense of accomplishment, and your child will be able to remember which author wrote the funny book about the campout when looking for something new to read.
