Pine Road Grows Great Kids

February 23, 2023

Hello Pine Road Families!

This newsletter marks the end of February and the start of March. While it was certainly a very mild winter, I know many of us are looking forward to some spring weather! As warm weather comes and we see an increase in students walking I want to share a few reminders that will allow us to ensure safety and efficiency for all, as well as help to minimize congestion on Pine Road.

  • All walkers must cross Pine Road at the designated crosswalk under the guidance of the School Crossing Guard.

  • Please be mindful of your speed while in the Pine Road parking lot.

  • Students in fourth and fifth grade may walk home independently but must bring a note from their parent/guardian to the attendance office. The note should indicate whether the student will be walking home daily or just on certain days of the week. A “Walker Pass” will be issued upon receipt of this information. The student must carry the “Walker Pass” in his/her book bag daily.

  • Students without walker passes must be signed out in the afternoon by their parents/guardians, and Photo Identification must be presented. A staff member will be at the front lobby of the building to sign out students (Parents may not park their cars in the school lot and pick up student walkers).

  • Cars waiting to enter the school property should not be blocking any travel lanes on Pine Road.

  • Families are not permitted to park on school property to use the walker line. If you are driving to Pine Road, you should be using the car line for arrival and dismissal.

Pine Road Highlights

Name Coach

NameCoach is an easy-to-use tool that allows students, teachers, support staff, and administrators to record how their name should be pronounced, as well as hear how others’ names should be pronounced. NameCoach can help build a sense of belonging and community while demonstrating Lower Moreland Township School District's commitment to equity and inclusion. NameCoach allows users to easily record the correct pronunciation of their name using the online recording tool.

Students in grades K-5 will use the NameCoach web application to record their name. Teachers will share a link with students in Google Classroom that will provide access to the recording tool. While this tool is available to all district students and employees, use of the NameCoach tool is completely optional.

Supporting New Families at Pine Road

In our district, we are lucky to have students and families who are from diverse cultures. Did you know that in our district, we have over 30 languages spoken?

To better support our new families, we would like to invite you to participate in serving as a mentor. As a mentor, you would be responsible for explaining school routines and special events and answering any questions that arise.

For those families who do not speak English as their native language, working with a mentor family who speaks the same language could be very helpful in learning to navigate our school system.

If you are interested in volunteering your time, please complete THIS form. New families would contact you upon their arrival to the district.

Cafeteria Reminder

Lunch menus are posted on a new interactive website, Nutrislice. Our innovative and interactive site and mobile app make our school menus more convenient and informative than ever before! Download the Nutrislice App from the App Store or get it on Google Play and search Lower Moreland.

Friendly reminder that the universal free lunch has ended, however starting October 1st free breakfast will be returning! Students that would like a free breakfast in the morning will walk straight to the cafeteria upon arrival. Students can eat breakfast in the cafeteria and granola bars, muffins, and cereal bars are also available if your student would like to save their breakfast for snack time.

Information on the Free or Reduced Lunch Prices can be found on the nutrition page on our LMTSD website.

Field Trip Assistance

As field trips are scheduled, if you are unable to afford field trips, please reach out to your student's counselor, as assistance may be available.
