BCCA MESSENGER May, 2021
Harmoniously blending the work of redemption and education
Hello BCCA Families,
Moses was truly a remarkable leader for Israel. He led Israel out of Egypt and so very close to the Promised Land. He wasn’t perfect though. Unfortunately, his time ran out and he only got to see the Promised Land. The good thing about following God is He always has another leader when the current leader is done. He nevers leaves His people without a leader for a prolonged period of time. As one leader fades, another comes to lead! He elected Joshua, who fearlessly led the Israelites into the Promised Land!
My time for leadership at the school has come to an end as this is my last year at Big Cove Christian Academy. I am going to stay home and take care of our daughter, who will be born this summer. It has been an absolute blessing to be given the opportunity to be the teaching principal at BCCA. Rebekah and I have really enjoyed our time with this job. Just like in the Bible - as one leader fades, God elects another to lead! For BCCA, Gabriel Nava has accepted the call to be the leader.
In the same way that God used Joshua to keep leading Israel, I believe God will use Gabriel to continue leading BCCA. Of course, God is our true leader and we put our trust in Him to continue blessing BCCA. If we keep our sights on God and follow His leadership, then we will be ready for any challenges that might face us.
He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding;
Daniel 2:21
Blessings,
Lucas Smith

Welcome Nava Family to BCCA
Our last family this year is the Nava family. They don’t have any kids at BCCA (yet!) but they are special because Mr. Gabriel Nava will be our new principal next year. He and his lovely wife, Sofia, moved to Alabama last year to further pursue teaching careers and they have settled in Harvest, AL. Sofia currently works as a professor of Spanish at Oakwood University and their three year old daughter, Lucia (sometimes called, Lucy) is home with dad until the summer is over. It was a great Sunday afternoon getting to know this family that will play such a big part in the school.

Pavilion Update
You are What You Think
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).
Your mind is an amazing creation of God. It handles billions and billions of bits of information. It can process 800 memories a second for 75 years and never get tired. No computer will ever compare with the computing power of your brain.
The Bible tells us you are what you think. More than anything else, it is what you think that matters most. Not your background, not your heredity, not your environment but what you choose to think about has greater influence on your life than anything you can possibly imagine.
So, think! If you’re serious about changing something in your life, you have to start by changing the way you think. “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). The way you are transformed, the way you are changed, the way you are built into something that you want to become is to change the way you think.
God Bless and Good Thinking!
